ABOUT SCANDIA
The Scandia story dates back as far as early after the Second World War when Mr Vic Cassar was manufacturing and repairing solid fuel stoves which he sold in the markets of Melbourne.
In 1961 he rented three small factories around Fitzroy which he used to continue to make and repair stoves. By 1972 the business had outgrown these factories and he decided to decentralise to Seymour taking with him his two sons and a number of skilled tradesmen.
The Seymour complex consisted of a manufacturing and assemby plant, a foundry and a vitreous enamelling plant. Stoves were produced for several decades from sheet steel and pig iron to the completed product.
Over the years however, the lack of skilled workers in the hot and physically demanding jobs of the foundry and the enamelling plant saw the closure of these divisions and the eventual outsourcing of castings from China and Taiwan.
In the early 1980's, one of Vic's sons Ray and son-in-law Jeff gradually took over the running of the company continuing to manufacture and assemble solid fuel cookers.
In the late 1990's, Ray's sons Ben, Vic and Jake commenced with the company working in the spare parts store, stove building and the steel fabrication divisions.
In recent times Vic has moved on leaving Jake and Ben to run the company. Due to Scandia's pusuit or supplying first-class products they have now set up a factory in China to specifically produce their products using premium materials.
Jake and Ben continually travel to the factory to oversee the production and inspect every shipment of cookers and heaters ensuring superior quality which is guaranteed with a Five Year Warranty.
