Scandia ‘Verdant LE’ Pellet Fire Appliances

          

Scandia Stoves Pty Ltd has today begun a recall of all Scandia ‘Verdant LE’ Pellet Fire appliances that were purchased from Bunnings Warehouse stores in Australia or New Zealand between January 2017 and December 2019. The recall is to address an issue specific to the Verdant LE’s electrical system that can cause grounding issues in some isolated cases if not addressed.

“During a routine check of our production practices, our engineers discovered an issue with the earthing loom on some of the ‘Verdant LE’ appliances, finding that the screws that support the earth connection could become loose, allowing the earth connection to break which will affect the electrical safety of the pellet heater and increase the risk of electric shock.” Scandia COO Graham Wright was quoted as stating. “And while it is a simple fix, we want our customers to rest assured that we will assess each and every ‘Verdant LE’, produced both during and outside of the recall timelines, in order to assure consumers that there is no danger or cause for concern. Additionally, it’s important to note that this discovery pertains only to the ‘Verdant LE’ and that all other Scandia Stoves, Fireplaces and fire-based heaters are compliant and safe.

Verdant LE’ Pellet Fire appliance identifiers:

  • Scandia Verdant LE Pellet Heater Series 1 Pellet Fire Heater for domestic space heating
  • Combustion product that uses wood pellets as a fuel source
  • Installed with a flue
  • Is electrically powered (240v) via plug in lead
  • Sold at Bunnings Stores in Australia and New Zealand from January 2017 to December 2019

What to do in case you own a ‘Verdant LE’ Pellet Fire appliance?

  • Stop using the heater
  • Turn off the power at the wall and disconnect the plug
  • Contact Scandia Customer Service immediately to assess if an on-site repair is required, of which Scandia will provide free-of-charge to suit your schedule.
